🎉 FREE Things To Do in Weymouth With Kids!

Looking for ways to have fun with the family without spending a dime? Weymouth is packed with hidden gems and outdoor adventures that are perfect for little explorers, big kids, and parents alike. Here’s your go-to guide for free fun in our own backyard!

🌳 Local Playgrounds

Let the kids run wild, climb high, and slide fast at these fun (and free!) local playgrounds:

  • Legion Memorial Playground (Commerical Street/Middle Street): A great fenced-in option with climbing structures, swings, and picnic areas.
  • Stella Tirrell Park (Central Street): Smaller playground with a hockey rink and baseball field up the hill.
  • O'Sullivan Playground (Pilgrim Road): Great option for toddlers!
  • Bradford Hawes (Lakehurst Ave): Spacious playground space, swings, climbing structures, shaded area, basketball court and baseball field. Be sure to check out the local student art!
  • Beals Playground (Sea Street): Weymouth's newest playground with TONS to do! Basketball court, HUGE slides, smaller slides, toddler area, plenty of climbing, soft ground and a skate park!
  • Richard E. Gifford Playground (Thicket Street): Lots of climbing, swings, handicap swing & baseball field. DO NOT miss out on the amazing walking trail right through the gate-SPOILER ALERT: There's a beautiful water scene over there!
  • Weston Park (Tufts Library): Probably Weymouth's largest playground. Plenty of space to run around and climb. Slides, swings, a spinner-this playground appeals to all ages. Don't forget to stop inside and sign up for a Library card!
  • Southfield Playground (Union Point-by the leasing office): Dog parents & Kid parents rejoice! A playground for both the baby and furbaby! Southfield Playground is a smaller playground with two swings, best suited for smaller kiddos. Located right next to a fenced in dog park with two sections-one for smaller dogs and one for larger, Fido can play with his friends while you push Suzie on the swing! Don't forget to check out the awesome plane that is just a few steps away!
  • Weymouth Public School Playgrounds (All over Weymouth): All Weymouth primary schools have playgrounds located on property.

Be sure to check back for more playground listings - we need to do more exploring and get the inside (or in this case, outside) scoop on each one!

🎣 Fishing Spots

Enjoy a peaceful (and sometimes exciting!) fishing day with the kids:

  • Whitman’s Pond (Middle Street & Lake Street Access Points): Drop a line and enjoy scenic views. A local favorite for teaching the kids how to fish!
  • King's Cove: Fish in the water after a relaxing hike, or just enjoy the ducks and turtles swimming by.
  • Weymouth Back River Marsh

🏃‍♂️ Fields to Run Around On

Let off some steam at these open green spaces:

  • Lovell Field: A huge open space by Jackson Square—great for soccer, frisbee, tag, or picnics.
  • Weston Park: A nice combo of ballfields, playground, and walking paths.
  • Legion Field: Large, open space with walking trail.

🥾 Hiking & Exploring

Get out into nature and discover the beauty Weymouth has to offer:

  • Pond Meadow Park: A family-friendly trail system with shady spots, a pond, and lots of nature to spot!
  • Great Esker Park: A scenic trail that winds along the Back River with views of marshes and birds. Perfect for a stroller-friendly walk or an adventurous climb.
  • Bradford Torrey Bird Sanctuary: A quiet, lesser-known gem with peaceful trails and the chance to spot local wildlife.

🌞 Bonus Tip: Pack snacks, water, and maybe a change of clothes—you never know where the day will take you when you’re exploring Weymouth’s beautiful, free outdoor spaces!
